The right protection can ensure the continued success of a business and its employees.

This law protects individuals, corporations and other organizations that have personal information on computers from being accessed improperly. In essence, this law ensures that personal information cannot be used by someone who has no authorization to see it. When a hacker finds out where the business has stored their confidential data, they may not be allowed access to it for a certain period of time, or be forced to give up this data voluntarily. Sometimes, when the business takes too long to inform clients or employees that they have lost access to the network, they are responsible for the loss of this information, which could cost the business thousands of dollars in fines or lost revenue.

There are also times when confidentiality lawsuits are filed against businesses when the company or business owner lose their confidential information to hackers. In these cases, the information may have been lost because the company was lax about maintaining the security of its network.
